In America, it\u2019s customary to open a gift in front of the person who gives it to you. Part of their joy from giving the gift comes from watching the person\u2019s expression as they first realize what the gift is. This can be a very positive experience when you receive something that you love and that is a good match for you and your personality. It\u2019s easy to appear excited and happy when you like your gift, but what happens if you don\u2019t like the gift? Should you be honest and tell the person politely, \u201cThe thought was nice, but\u2026\u201d NO! Absolutely not! Always show that you are pleased with the gift- even when you\u2019re not! Pretend you like the ugly sweater! Find something nice to say about everything you receive.
