Why do you have all this weather stuff?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I love weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Me too! Weather is so important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: It is. It affects people\u2019s lives!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Have you ever reported on a big weather event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I have. I\u2019ve reported on a blizzard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Do mean the one last weekend?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Yes! I had been waiting for that blizzard for years. When it came, I was ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Bot: Welcome to our most perfect lesson! Why is it perfect? Today we are reviewing the present perfect and past perfect verb tenses. These show that an action is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly uses the present perfect when she says,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Have you ever reported on a big weather event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna uses the past perfect when she says,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I had been waiting for that blizzard for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Listen for &#8220;have&#8221; or &#8220;had&#8221; and the past participle to find more sentences with the perfect tense. I&#8217;ll color those words to help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I have wanted to report on a big weather event my whole life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Who hasn\u2019t? Did you report all weekend \u2026 by yourself?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: No, no. I volunteered Pete to help me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: Why am I here on a Saturday? Why are you carrying things? Why? Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Pete, these are my supplies \u2013 food, a blanket; warm clothing. Where are your supplies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Pete, Pete, Pete. This could be the \u201cblizzard of the century.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: It\u2019ll be fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: How else had you prepared?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Well, I had just bought the latest weather forecasting software. So, I brought it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Do you mean The Weather Genie Pro?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: You know it. Pete thought it was pretty great too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: Do you have any games on that thing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Yes! I have the best weather survival game. Boom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: Sounds fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: It is. But right now, Pete, this computer is a work tool. It will give us the temperature, wind speed, wind direction and amount of snowfall \u2026 in real time! Boom, boom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: I can\u2019t wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Pete, we need a name for this blizzard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: No, we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: All the great storms have names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: No, they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I know &#8212; \u201cThe Big Snow!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: I am not saying \u201cThe Big Snow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: Welcome to \u201cThe Big Snow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: The Big Snow broke all kinds of records, didn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Yes it did. And every time a record was broken, we celebrated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: So far, in Washington, D.C. 29 inches of snow has fallen. That, my dear listeners, is a record! (Honks horn)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: We just broke the wind speed record! (Honks horn)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Snow has been falling for 30 hours straight! That\u2019s another record! (Honks horn. Pete comes into room and breaks the horn.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: By Saturday night, stores and restaurants had closed. Did you bring enough food?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: I thought I had brought enough food. But I ran out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Hey, Pete, where is my bag of popcorn?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: Maybe you ate it already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: No, I didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete: I haven&#8217;t seen it. (Pete has popcorn in his beard. Anna tries to hit him.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: We had reported together for 48 hours straight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelly: Wow. That must have been a great team-building exercise for you and Pete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna: Yeah. You &#8211; you could say that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Bot: I hope you found all the sentences with perfect tenses.
