Wang Fang, a veteran Kun Opera actress gets help with her make up as she prepares for her role as Yang Yuhuan, a concubine to a Tang dynasty emperor for the opera 'The Palace of Eternal Youth' at a theater in Beijing, China, Monday, Dec. 13, 2004. The classic opera tells the tale of love, death and resurrection in the 17th century between Emperor Tang Minghuang and his concubine Yang Yuhuan. The epic tale is seven hours long and played out over three consecutive nights. Kun Opera originates in Kunshan, southern China and appeared in historical record as early as the 14th century. It combines dance, music, mime, martial art, acrobatics and dialogue, blending poetry with elaborate music to create a style that's noted to be more lyrical than other forms of Chinese opera.
