Lesson 20

特殊难点

1.interested/interesting; excited/exciting 这些形容词都是由动词转变而来的。过去分词 (以ed结尾) 表示被动,含义为 “被引起某种感觉或情绪”,其主语或所修饰的名词一般为人;现在分词(以ing结尾)表示主动,含义为 “令人有某种感觉或情绪”,句子主语或所修饰的名词一般是事物:

Fishing is not interesting. I am not interested in fishing.

The match was very exciting. The crowd got very excited.

I had an amusing experience last year. The boys felt amused by the clown.

常见的这类词有:tired/tiring; surprised/surprising; bored/boring; disappointed/disappointing 等。

2.It’s 和Its

It’s 是it is 或 it has 的缩写形式:

It is cold today. = It’s cold today.

It has been raining for two days. = It’s been raining for two days.

Its是形容词性的物主代词,表示 “它的”

The cat drank its milk.

This engine has lost its power.

3.Realize & Understand

Realize 认识到,意识到 (起初不明显的事情)

I realized he was mad.

He had won, but at first he didn’t realize it.

Understand 懂得或理解 (…的意思)

I don’t understand English.

Do you understand this word?

练习:

1.I realized he was not telling me the truth.

2.This poem is difficult. It’s impossible for you to understand its meaning.

3.There was some exciting news on the radio.

4.He is not an interesting person.

5.He is an explorer. He leads an exciting life.

6.I am not interested in other people’s affairs.
