特殊难点

1.Drive 这个动词的词义很多

(1)驾驶：

He drives his car very badly. 他开车开得很糟糕。

Drive with caution! 谨慎驾驶！

(2)逼迫，迫使：

Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad. 飞机正在逐渐把我逼疯。

The noise from the neighbours is driving me crazy. 邻居家的吵闹声要把我逼疯了。

She drove me out of patience. 她使我失去了耐心。

(3)驱赶

The farmer drove the cattle into the field. 农夫把牲口赶到了地里。

During the war, many people were driven out of their homes.

许多人在战争中流离失所。

* drive away 赶走

Your pride will drive her away if you’re not careful.

如果你不注意，你的骄傲会把她给 赶跑的。

drive away your fear 赶走你的恐惧。

* drive at （非正式）用意，想表达的

I'm sorry, I don't see what you're driving at. 对不起，我不明白你用意何在？

I really don't understand the point she's driving at. 我真的不懂她想要表达的观点。

2.Home & House

a) Home 是 “家”, 即某人家庭(family) 的生活所在地, 它带有一定的感情依恋色彩。这个词可作名词和副词，以及固定词组at home (在家)；

After work I always go home. I often arrive/get home before seven o’clock. (副词)

下班后我总是回家。我经常7点钟到家。

I stay at home during the weekend. 周末我总是呆在家里。

There is no place like home. 千好万好，不如家好。

b) house 只是指建筑物而已，即人们居住的 “房屋”；用作名词而不能作副词。

They are building many new houses in our district. 他们要在我们这个区建好多新房子。

I paid a lot of money for a new house. 我花了好多钱买了一幢房子。

比较：Our new house is beginning to look more like a real home.

我们的新房子开始看上去更象一个真正的家了。

练习：

1.It was raining heavily and I was glad to get home.

2.The government plans to build thousands of houses next year.

3.He is very rich. He owns a house in the country.

4.Most people like to spend their Christmas holidays at home.
