The presidents of China and Russia have praised economic and diplomatic cooperation between their nations during talks in Uzbekistan.

中国和俄罗斯两国领导人在乌兹别克斯坦会晤期间赞扬两国的经济与外交合作。

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitri Medvedev met Thursday in the Uzbek capital Tashkent ahead of a regional security summit. Tashkent is hosting the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Friday.

在上海合作组织峰会开始之前，中国国家主席胡锦涛同俄罗斯总统梅德韦杰夫星期四在乌兹别克斯坦首都塔什干进行会晤。这次峰会将于星期五在塔什干举行。

Mr. Hu said China and Russia must pool their efforts to achieve, in his words, "better results" in trade, energy, military technologies and regional cooperation. He also said the Russian president's upcoming visit to China in September will mark a major event in bilateral relations.

Mr. Medvedev said Russia and China are engaged in consultations on a number of "problems" that he says have emerged recently. He did not elaborate. Mr. Medvedev said it is important for both nations to "synchronize" their positions on international affairs.

梅德韦杰夫说，俄罗斯和中国就最近就一系列“问题”进行了探讨，但他并未就此详细阐述。梅德韦杰夫表示，两国协调在国际事务上的立场，对于双方来说至关重要。

Thursday's meeting is the third between the Russian and Chinese presidents this year.
