Countries, businesses, and schools are three areas that need good leaders. Choose one of these three areas and describe the most important qualities of a leader in that area. Explain why these qualities are important, using specific examples and details.

A Good Leader

Every country needs a good leader in order to be strong and successful. But what makes a person a good leader? The ideal head of state would possess many fine qualities, including intelligence, resourcefulness, and courage. However, no one can possess every fine attribute, and some are more imp9ortant than others. In my opinion, the most important qualities for the leader of a country to have are honesty, broad-mindedness, and concern for his country.

Above all, a country’s leader must be honest. We have seen many examples of dishonest and corrupt politicians who have damaged their countries’ economies and reputations. To my mind, a dishonest leader is the worst kind of leader because he not only hurts his country, but destroys his people’s trust. Second, a leader must be broad-minded enough to be open to new ideas and to be able to put himself in other’s shoes. This is especially important when negotiating with other countries. Finally, a good leader must have genuine concern for his country and the well-being of its citizens. Only if he truly cares about the progress of his nation and his people can he lead them effectively.

The above are just three of the qualities that a good leader should possess, but I believe that they are the most important. An honest, open-minded and concerned leader will not do anything to damage his country’s well-being or reputation in the world. Moreover, in his desire to make the best decisions, he will take the time to think through all the consequences of his actions.
