Games Are Not Just for Children

Games are not only a popular form of entertainment, but also a valuable learning tool. Unfortunately, many people believe that playing games is a behavior only appropriate for children. In my opinion, this is not the case for the following reasons.

Fist of all, we can gain knowledge and learn new skills by playing games, and we often learn better and faster through games than we do through more conventional methods. This is just as true of adults as it is of children. Second, playing games can develop our thinking and reasoning abilities. Contrary to popular belief, the brain does not stop developing after childhood; therefore, it is important for all of us to continue to exercise our brains. Last but mot least, playing games is a social activity that brings people closer together while helping them learn how to get along with each other. For this reason, games can be a very useful part of company training programs as well as family gatherings.

For the reasons stated above, I cannot agree with the opinion that games are merely “child’s play.” On the contrary, they can be of great value to people of all ages as well as a pleasant way to spend time with others. Adults should not ignore the advantages of playing games.
