Nokia announced the world's first luxury mobile phone company which will offer hand-crafted cellular phones adorned with platinum (L) and 18k polished gold (R) and costing more than $20,000, January 21, 2002. Vertu Ltd, a new independently-run subsidiary of Nokia will start selling its phones at its stores in exclusive shopping areas in the United States, Europe, and Asia by mid-2002. (Vertu Ltd.
