German police have arrested a Syrian man accused of using the Internet to recruit members for the al-Qaida terrorist network.

德国警方逮捕了一名叙利亚男子，他被控涉嫌使用互联网招聘基地组织恐怖网络的成员。

Prosecutors say the man, identified only as Hussam S., was arrested Sunday in the southwestern town of Montabaur.

The federal prosecutor's office says the Syrian national is suspected of posting about 100 pieces of propaganda on websites since 2007, in a push to strengthen al-Qaida and other radical Islamist groups.

He is also suspected of running a German-language Internet forum since February 2009 which distributed audio, video and text messages to recruit militants.
