A fourth case of anthrax exposure has been reported in the United States at the New York city office of NBC television. A letter containing a powdery substance is believed to be the source of the anthrax becteria that showed up as a skin rash on an NBC employee. Speaking on another network last night, Vice President Dick Cheney says there is no evidence yet that would tie in the anthrax incidents with the 9.11 terrorist attack, "Nobody's made a direct link yet, but at this stage you have to be concerned about that sort of thing, the possibility. Are they related? we don't know, we don't have enough evidence to be able to pin down that kind of connection. But on the other hand, these kind of activities we saw in Florida, now perhaps in New York, it had to be suspicious." A criminal investigation is under way in Florida, where 3 people at a publishing company were exposed to anthrax, one of those workers died. Notes: antrax n.炭疽热(an infectious disease of warm-blooded animals caused by a spore-forming bacterium, transmissible to humans especially by the handling of infected products, and characterized by external ulcerating nodules or by lesions in the lungs)
