On their way to Nikki’s dorm

Nikki:Here’s some dancing. [pointing to a group of guys] See those guys stomping, clapping and shouting? They’re practicing step dancing.
Wen:It sounds cool. The rhythms look really difficult.
Nikki:They basically turn their bodies into drums. There’s a national step competition every year.
Wen:Well, black people are supposed to be great dancers.
Nikki:Wen! That’s only a stereotype. Like all Asians are supposed to be math geniuses. I’m not a great dancer, and you said you failed calculus.
Wen:Ha-ha! You got me there!

stomp (v.)
踏步，跺脚。clap (v.) 拍手。在文章里都是指舞蹈的动作

Nikki:Howard is eighty percent black. But there are whites, and even Asians here. Thankfully, it’s also coed.
Wen:Great! Is your dorm coed, too?
Nikki:Sorry, nope. But the Alpha Phi Alpha’s are throwing a party tonight.
Wen:That’s a black fraternity, right? So we should see some dancing!

哪里有问题？
小宝听妈妈说床边故事，听到后来睡着了，第二天他跑去问妈妈：「公主后来有找到王子吗？」
Did the princess find her prince at last?
这个句子讲错了。但你知道毛病出在哪里吗？

答案在这里
小宝想表达的是：「公主在故事结尾有没有找到王子」，强调的是最后的结果，若是使用at last，就会变成「公主历经千辛万苦后，有找到王子吗？」的意思。

秘诀大公开
●at last是指「终于，总算」，强调的是「过程」，表示过程中「花了很多时间去等待或努力，才达到结果」。
●in the end则是强调客观的「结果」，表示「在最后（结果是……）」。

这句可以这样改
用in the end表示「最后结果」
Did the princess find her prince in the end?

举例说明：
at last给人一种「等了好久，总算得到」的感觉。
A:Did your new shirts finally arrive in the mail?
你的新衬衫终于寄来了吗？
B:Yes, at last.
对，好不容易。（等了好久，新衬衫才送到）

分辨at last和in the end：
Everything worked out at last!
事情终于都解决了！（强调曾花了很久的努力才解决）
Everything worked out in the end！
事情后来全解决了！（强调事情的结果是解决了）
