Jess: Don’t open any of my forwards! I got a virus!
James:Don’t tell me you got the dreaded Bush virus. I’ve heard that that bug is threatening to infect the world.
Jess: Yes, that’s exactly the bug I got. Though, I do kind of like the pictures.
James:[Takes a look] Those clothes do suit him better.
Jess: Wait a second-are these pictures copyrighted?
James:Probably not. It’s off the Internet. What difference does it make?

dreaded (a.)
非常害怕的，担心的
The dreaded sea monster has been eating fisherman.

bug (n.)

詹姆士：别跟我说你中了可怕的布什病毒。我听说那个病毒正威胁要蔓延到全世界。
洁　丝：对，我就是中这个毒。不过，我倒还挺喜欢这些照片的。
詹姆士：（看一眼）这些衣服还真的比较适合他。
洁　丝：等等——这些照片有版权吗？
詹姆士：也许没有。这是从网络上抓下来的。这有什么不同？

In the office, Wednesday morning

Jess: But still, I didn’t want this wallpaper. And every time I try to open a program, all I see is a cross-dressing Bush.
Ann: I heard about that horrible virus! It automatically e-mails itself as an attachment to everyone in your address book.
Jess: Well, it’s already got on my computer. How do I get rid of it?
Ann: Vote it out in the next election.
Jess: Hey, knock it off-this is serious!
Ann: Have the IT department run a virus disinfection program. Hopefully, the problem will be gone by 2005.

投票击败。此处的it是指「George W. Bush病毒」，但vote someone out也有「让某人败选」之意，语带双关。之后提到二○○五年这病毒可能消失，是因为该年是下届美国总统大选年

IT (n.)
信息科技，information technology的缩写。IT部门负责企业内信息设备软硬件的维护及管理
IT is a major sector of Taiwan’s economy.
信息科技是台湾经济的主要部分。

disinfection (n.)
消毒，此指消除计算机病毒。而infect (v.) 则为「感染」
I’m going to use some alcohol to disinfect your wound.
我要用些酒精消毒你的伤口。

洁丝：但话说回来，我不想要这种桌面啊。而且每次我想要开程序，就只看得到一个穿女装的布什。
小安：我有听过那可怕的病毒！它会把自己当附加档，自动转寄给你通讯簿里的每个人。
洁丝：呃，它现在已经跑进我的计算机里了。我要怎么清掉？
小安：下次选举让它败选啰。
洁丝：嘿，别开玩笑了——这是认真的！
小安：请信息部门来扫毒。但愿这个问题能够在二○○五年后消失。

In the office, Wednesday morning

Jess: Oh, no. It looks like my computer really has caught a virus.
Ann: Why? Did you open an attachment?
Jess: Yes, something called “George W. Bush.” An hour later, all I see are pictures of George W. Bush in women’s clothes.
Ann: [Looks at Jess’ monitor] I kind of like it. He looks better that way, doesn’t he? More presidential.
Jess: I preferred the forward with pictures of him side-by-side with monkeys.
Ann: Yeah, their expressions were exactly the same!

attachment (n.)
附加档案
A: I’ve sent you my writing as a file attachment.
我已经把我写的东西用附档寄给你了。
B: Hopefully my computer can open it.

presidential (a.)
总统的。而George W. Bush就是目前美国总统「小布什」的名字。文中的「布什病毒」Bush virus是捏造出来的计算机病毒，如有雷同，纯属巧合
This restaurant serves food of such high quality, it seems almost presidential.
这个餐厅提供这么高档的食物，几乎像是总统级了的。

星期三早上，办公室内

洁丝： 糟了。看来我的计算机真的中毒了。
小安： 怎么了？你有开附加档吗？
洁丝： 对，开了一个叫做「小布什」的档案。一个小时后，屏幕上就只剩小布什穿女生衣服的图片了。
小安： （看洁丝的屏幕）我还挺喜欢的。他这样子比较好看，不是吗？更有总统相。
洁丝： 我比较喜欢那个他和猴子摆在一起的转寄图片。
小安： 对，他们的表情一模一样!
