世博英语脱口秀【3】Have you had lunch?

会话原文
英文解释
中文解释

Have you had lunch?(你吃午饭了吗?)

Tony给Tina解释中国人如何打招呼。

Tina: Hi, Tony. Have you had lunch?
Tony: Why, Tina, are you inviting me out for lunch?
Tina: Funny. When my Chinese friends asked me if I had eaten, I also thought they wanted to invite me to eat out.
Tony: I see, that’s actually how Chinese people greet each other, it’s not really an invitation.
Tina: Do you always greet each other with that question?
Tony: Not necessarily. Sometimes, we say “nihao”, like your “hello” or “hi”. Sometimes, we say “zenmeyang” just like your “how ya doing?”.

中文翻译

Tina:嗨!Tony。吃过午饭了吗?
Tony:什么?Tina,你想请我吃午饭吗?
Tina:真是有趣。当我的中国朋友问我是否吃过饭的时候,我一开始也是反应他们是想请我吃饭呢。
Tony:我知道了,这其实上是中国人打招呼的方式,可不是邀请啊。
Tina:你们一直是用这样的问题来打招呼吗?
Tony:那也不一定。有时我们会说“你好”,就好象你们说“hello”或是“hi”,有时我们会问道“怎么样”,就象你们说“how ya doing?”。

爱借词汇的美国人

Because it’s boring to use the same “hello” and “goodbye” words over and over again, some Americans think it is fun and playful to borrow greeting and parting words from other languages. Spanish phrases are used most often, but other commonly recognized languages such as Italian and French are sometimes used. Who knows- with more and more Americans learning Chinese these days, maybe someday in the future you might hear an American in a movie call out, “Zaijian!” The following are a few examples of words borrowed from other languages:

Hola! (Hello- Spanish)
Hola, amiga! (Hello friend!- Spanish)
Bonjour! (Hello- French)
Adios amigo! (Goodbye friend- Spanish)
Hasta la vista! (See you soon!- Spanish)
Aloha! (Hello!- Hawaiian)

中文翻译

由于一遍又一遍的使用“hello”和“goodbye”这样令人乏味的词语,一些美国人觉得借用其它语言来表达见面和分手是有趣和好玩的。其中西班牙语使用的最多,其它大家所熟知的意大利语和法语有时也会使用。不过也很难说——随着越来越多的美国人开始学习中文,说不定将来某一天你会在电影中听到美国人说出“再见”这样的话。下面是一些借用其它语言词语的例子:

Hola! (你好- 西班牙语)
Hola, amiga! (你好,朋友!- 西班牙语)
Bonjour! (你好- 法语)
Adios amigo! (再见朋友!- 西班牙语)
Hasta la vista! (待会见!- 西班牙语)
Aloha! (你好!- 夏威夷语)

英文解释
中文解释

Ciao(再见的说法)

Tony向Tina询问Ciao这个词汇的意思,原来这是个外来语,还是个时髦用法。

Tony:Hi, Tina! I have a question for you.
Tina:Yes, Tony, an English problem?
Tony:Yes, why does my American teacher say “Ciao” when I say goodbye to him?
Tina:He is saying goodbye to you too. “Ciao” is an Italian word for goodbye here.
Tony:Is that so? Why is my teacher so fond of the word?
Tina:Well, you see, many of my Chinese friends use the English word “bye” when they part with each other. It’s supposed to be kinda fashionable.
Tony:No wonder! I just hope one day you guys find Chinese fashionable and use a lot of Chinese. It will be easier for me to learn English.
