医生说罗斯的外祖母快要死了，不过，罗斯的利莲阿姨是这么表达的：it’s a matter of hours.字面意思是这只是几个小时的事情，a matter of是大概、大约的意思，如：
A- When do you think this pain will be over?
B- Oh, it’s just a matter of minutes.
这个是说疼痛也即使几分钟的事情。
What’s with your hair?你的头发怎么了？这是口语中常用的表达方法，如：
What’s with your father?
你的父亲怎么了？
相当于说what’s the matter with your father?盖勒夫人说Maybe that’s it.也是口语中的表达，这个it就是指原因，或者是答案，问题的症结所在的意思。如：
A- His teacher was not happy with him.
B- Yes! That’s it! That was why he didn’t pass the examination.
这两个人是在说某学生没有通过考试是因为老师不喜欢这个人。
