世博英语札记【130】Endoscope and Derail

1.Endoscope(内诊镜)

今天看到一个医学词汇：endoscope。它的构词也很简单：endo+scope。Endo就是within,inside的意思。而scope总是和什么什么镜有关系的，比如：telescope（望远镜）；periscope(潜望镜)等等。所以大家也可以看出，这里endoscope就是指内部诊断镜。

Endoscope——An instrument for examining visually the interior of a bodily canal or a hollow organ such as the colon, bladder, or stomach.
内窥镜，内视镜一种目测检查身体通道或中空器官，如结肠、膀胱或胃的内部的仪器。

我们来看一个例句：

Endoscopes help save lives by allowing doctors to look inside our bodies.

2．Derail（火车脱轨）

今天的一则新闻说是火车脱轨了，用的就是这个derail单字。这里rail大家都明白是铁路的意思。而de前缀则表示remove的意思。这种前缀搭配还有比如：deoxidate（使脱氧）；defrost（去冰或霜）；detour（改道）等等吧。
