Bill Gates, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, disagrees with a Federal Judge's ruling that the software company is using its monopoly powers in ways that harm competitors and consumers.
The anti-trust case against Microsoft started when the company bundled its Windows 95 operating system with its Internet Explorer software. Bill Gates says that the move was an important innovation for computer users, making it easier for them to access the Internet.
"The court case has got aspects that are disappointing to it——the fact that we have to stick up for this right to innovate is not something that I expected. Perhaps Microsoft was naive because from the beginning we didn't think of anything but just what do the consumers want, and how can we drive this stuff forward?"
