第二十五课 Do the English speak English?

I had lost 50 pounds in a hotel. I felt very upset. I went to tell the manager about it in his office. He could not do anything. He began to complain about this wicked world. Just then a girl came in with the money. She had found it outside my room. There is still some honesty in this world.(60字)

2、作文

I received a letter from my cousin yesterday. He said he had a surprise for all of us. He told me that on his way from New York to London the plane met strong turbulence. It was moving up and down, and the passengers couldn’t help screaming. Some bags fell off from the rack. And the drinks and papers fell on the floor. My cousin’s expensive watch was lost a few minutes later. So he went to a stewardess and asked for an explanation after the plane landed. She tried to search for it everywhere on the plane, but she could not find it. When she was saying “sorry “ to him, a girl rushed back from the exit with a watch. She said she found it in her handbag, but she didn’t know how the watch got in here. Towards the end of the letter, my cousin said he was going to marry her.

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。
将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。答案见下期。

三、本课重点：合并句子的方法

请大家抽空回到前面的讲解，从第九课开始复习一下句子的基本结构。前面的讲解主要是单个句子中最基本的五中结构，还有构成的成分，另外，还初步接触了句子的修饰成分以及常见的一些复合句，如状语从句等。从第二单元第25课开始起，我们学习如何扩展我们的句子，加长句子，并且注意句子和句子之间的联系，使得我们作文的每个句子紧密地结合在一起，形成一个围绕中心来叙述故事、阐述观点的整体。

首先，还是从基本的做起。基本的做好了，复杂的也都可以迎刃而解。先学会将两个或两个以上句子合并成一个句子。请在合适的地方，将下面的短文中的句子合并，并注意句子之间的衔接。

I arrived in London at last. The railway station was big. It was black. It was also dark. I did not know the way to my hotel. I asked a porter. I spoke English very carefully. I spoke English very clearly too. The porter could not understand me. I repeated my questions several times. He at last understood. He answered me. He didn’t speak slowly. He didn’t speak clearly either. “I am a foreigner, ” I said. Then he spoke slowly. I could not understand him. My teacher never spoke English like that. The porter and I looked at each other. We smiled. Then he said something. I understood it. “You’ll soon learn English!” he said. I wonder. In England each person speaks a different language. The English understand each other. I don’t understand them. Do they speak English?

四、作文线索

本课写的外国人到了英国以后发现自己学的英语和英国人说的英语有很大的差异，甚至无法保证基本的交流。只选用了机场与搬运工的交流来说明这个问题。
