第七十四课 Out of the limelight 舞台之外

一、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。

将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，请大家自己做。

从第三十一课开始，我不再提供摘要练习的答案。请大家认真做好摘要练习，这是提高表达能力，进而提高写作能力，特别是围绕中心进行写作的好方法。希望大家坚持，我会在会员社区帮大家修改摘要，并且适当做一些讲评，选出比较好的摘要供大家参考。

二、本课重点：连接词

连接词通常是用来连接句子的。本课使用了如下的连接词：
so that, but, as, meanwhile, when, in case, and

英语是个注重形式的语言，所以，学会恰当地使用连接词，可以使文章的连贯程度大大加强。难以想像课文里缺少了这些连接词会是什么情形。下面，请大家使用恰当的连接词按照所给的思路连接成文。

A fine day, prepared for a picnic, drove into the country, found a quiet spot, unpacked our hampers. There were a few wasps, a great many of them, our efforts to drive them away, saw a wasp nest in a tree nearby, seized our things, returned to car pursued by wasps, drove away.

三、值得学习的句子

1. But as they discovered, disguises can sometimes be too perfect.
As they soon discovered, there was no one in this building.
As they realized, there would be no movie this week.

2. It says “No Camping”, in case you can’t read.
You need to take your umbrella in case it rains.
We have to take more money in case our trip is delayed.

3. Don’t be too hard on us.
You are too hard on your son.
He is simply too harsh on his staff.
