forsake

Definition定义：

n. 1. to leave someone, especially when you should stay because they need you. 抛弃，背弃
2. to give up (something valued or enjoyed) 放弃情感上珍惜或迷恋的东西。

Example例：

1. He wanted to forsake the world and its pleasure. 他试图远离人世及人世的快乐。
2. Never to forsake a friend when he is in trouble. 在朋友有难时决不抛弃朋友。

【世博精解】

forsake是正式用法，指断绝关系，特别是指断绝感情上的依恋。所以，恋曲中常常会用到，如：Do not forsake me, Oh my darling. 我的爱人，不要离开我！

Forsake一般用来指永远离开。所以，当我们发现我们的青春一去不复返的时候，既没有后悔药可吃，也没有办法让时光倒流，就有了下面自我安慰的话：

All the beauty that had forsaken her face, seemed to have found refuge in her heart.她如花似玉的昔日已经一去不复返，但是她的心灵却成了美丽的避难所。然而，deserted的含义却强调故意违背自己的义务、责任或誓言，如：

The man deserted his wife and children, home and business..(那人抛弃妻子，舍家弃业。)

当然，这种行为也可能是因为过失造成的，可以说：

He felt guilty at deserting his daughter.他对抛弃女儿感到内疚。

Abandon则是放弃对某物或某人的"拥有"权利，有时候是不得已而为之。如：

The scientists were obliged to abandon their research due to lack of funding. 这些科学家因为缺少经费不得不放弃研究。
Did you see that abandoned car? Its owner simply does not have money to drive it!你看到那辆被遗弃的车子了吗？车主连买汽油开它的钱都没有。
