In some countries, people are strongly influenced by fashion, such as clothing and hairstyle. What in your opinion attracts people to fashion?

Fashion comes and goes, keeping steps with the evolution of society. What attracts people to fashion is as much a human behavior to look right as a necesity to catch up with the social mainstream. To say such a development is positive or negative, in my opinion, seems pointless. Fashion is always as fashion does. It just happens.

The influence of fashion is like a mirror to society in changing, apparently with paces somewhat quicker now than in the past. Society in evolution looks for the newest and, if it can be affordable, the best. Naturally people want the latest in clothing and hairstyle, among other tendencies, to stay in the mainstream. So, when one looks at the evolution of fashion, it is plain to see that it advances as all things do--technology, ideas, working conditions and what not. The attraction to look right in the social mirror is next to inevitable, especially among better-off women and teen-agers.

Good fashion never goes out of style. Independent of its negative or positive influence on human behavior, fashion may fade away, only to return again, reflecting the nostalgic, if not evolutionary society particularly after the Industrial Revolution. Before the modernization of fashion industry, trends and styles did not change as often as they do today. Freedom of fashion is not very unlike freedom of speech. The attitude toward social and economic life finds expression in speech as well as in fashion.

Without doubt, people like to dress and adorn themselves in imitation of celebrities, which is nothing wrong when money not being the issue. I would like to think fashion as both culture and sub-culture. For example, I can see that the mainstream of this time tends to be tight-fit clothing and longer hair for men and women alike. This is mainstream today as a rule. I can also notice teen fashion and punk fashion, which are only exceptions to prove the rule. Since fashion is interactive with social and economic development, it is generally harmless. I couldn't care less if fashion is a positive or negative develoment. It is just like the weather that may change.
