你觉得现在的生活很乏味？你想到外面的世界寻找机会？看了今天的文章，也许你会对“机会”有全新的理解。

Opportunity never seems to be where we want it to be at the time. It always “ appears” to be somewhere else. Yet, the truth is that nine out of ten times opportunity is right in your own backyard.

机会似乎从来不会在我们最需要它时出现。它总是在别的什么地方“出现”。然而，事实是十之八九机会刚好就在你家的后院。

We are like the young man who sold the old family farm, because he could see no future in owning it, and wandered the world seeking his fortune. Years later he returned, old and poor, for a last look at the old place and found that the new owner had discovered oil!

我们像那个把老家农场卖掉的年轻人，因为看不到拥有农场有什么前途，他便去闯荡世界寻找发财机会。多年后他回来了，又老又穷，想最后看看自己的老家，却发现新的主人在那儿发现了石油！

1．nine out of ten times是“十之八九”“几乎全部”的意思，可以简略地说成nine out of ten，如：
Nine out of ten people agreed with me. 有十分之九的人同意我的意见。

此外，我们还可以用短语Ten to one及ninety-nine out of a hundred来表示。来看两个例子：
He talks about you ten to one when we have chitchat.
每次我们闲聊他几乎都谈及你。
Ninety-nine out of a hundred, his comments are not to the point.
他的评论几乎全部都是未击中要害的。

2．right可以做形容词和副词，意思十分丰富，主要用法有以下几种。

（1）做形容词，表示“右侧的”。如：
Raise your right arm.
举起你的右臂。

（2）做形容词，表示“正确的、准确的”。如：
You were right about the party---it was awful.
那次聚会被你言中——简直糟透了。

（3）做副词，表示“不偏不倚地、恰好”。如：
Your glasses are right here on the table.
你的眼镜就在这儿桌子上。

在那时。多指在过去某一特殊时间发生的事，但在说话时，情况已经大为不同了，有种物是人非的感觉。如：

He was very poor at that time.
他那时候很穷。（现在他可能已经很富有了。）

He couldn‘t come up with an appropriate answer just at the time.
那时他想不出一个合适的答案。（现在这问题对于他来说只是小菜一碟了。）
