第六十一课 Trouble with the Hubble

一、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。

将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，请大家自己做。

从第三十一课开始，我不再提供摘要练习的答案。请大家认真做好摘要练习，这是提高表达能力，进而提高写作能力，特别是围绕中心进行写作的好方法。希望大家坚持，我会在会员社区帮大家修改摘要，并且适当做一些讲评，选出比较好的摘要供大家参考。

二、本课重点：完成时态的特殊用法

完成时态一般指在某一时间点以前完成的动作。将来完成时态是表示将来某个时间之前完成的动作，如：
1. I will have finished this lesson in two days’ time.
2. I will have made 14 papercuts when they arrive.
3. By the time they get there, I will have written two papers.
4. By the time you read this, the Hubble’s eagle eye will have sent us thousands of wonderful pictures.

此外，使用将来完成进行时，就更有强烈的时间先后的意味，表示在将来某个时间段持续进行的动作，写作时这种句型很有用，可以用来表示“到那个时候就晚了”“到那个时候就已经怎么样了”等意味。如：
5. By the time they get ready for the trip, I will have been traveling for over 6 months.

这样的用法值得我们注意。

三、值得学习的句子

1. The Hubble telescope was launched into space by NASA on April 20, 1990 at a cost of over a million dollars.
He received the medal at the cost of one leg.
They achieved quick expansion of the operations in East Asia at the expense of opportunities in Africa.

2. Right from the start there was trouble with the Hubble.
Right from the beginning, their relationship was a rocky one.
You can find him right here in this building.

3. The Hubble will tell us a great deal about the age and size of the universe.
This will tell us a lot (something) about the Earth.
They talked (a lot) about the family. (something)

Find data online about NASA and tell us about the first trip to the moon.
