钻石象征永恒，历来被视作是爱情的象征。然而金凯瑞花了二十多万美元送女友一枚Harry Winston钻戒仅仅为了“友谊”！你相信吗？

Jim Carrey gave girlfriend Renee Zellweger a pricey（贵重的） diamond（钻石） ring, but the two are calling it a “friendship ring”.

金•凯瑞送给女朋友芮妮•泽尔威格一枚昂贵的钻戒，但两人将这枚钻戒称为“友谊戒指”。

Buzz is building that it is, in fact, an engagement（订婚） ring. Even before the two went public with their romance（恋情）, which began on the set（拍摄现场） of Me, Myself, and Irene, wedding rumors（谣言） were in the air.

舆论界认为，事实上那就是定婚戒指。甚至在他们两人的恋情公开之前——他们是在拍摄Me, Myself, and Irene时公开的，就已有传闻说两人将谈婚论嫁。

Diamonds are still a girl's best friends, it seems, even if they're given in the name of “friendship”.

1．buzz

buzz表示嗡嗡的声音，以及类似的各种声音，通常都是噪音。而这里指的是“流言”。如果做动词，就有“散布（谣言）”的意思，如：
He accused her of buzzing rumors about him.
他指责她暗中散播有关他的流言蜚语。

buzz后面加上-er，变成buzzer，意思是“门铃”或“汽笛”一类的东西，如：
I pressed the buzzer to his house and waited.
我按了他家的门铃,然后等着。

2．短语in the air有两种用法。

（1）表示“在空中”，如：
A plane is flying in the air.
一架飞机正在空中飞翔。

（2）表示“悬而未决”，如：
The date of the dinner party is still in the air.
宴会的日期尚未确定。
