When he runs out of money, he always borrows from his friends. One day, I went on a business trip to Los Angeles, and saw him at a restaurant by accident. I went over and asked him, “You are supposed to be in Hawaii for a tour. Why are you here?” Tom looked at me and said, “I spent all my money in a casino. You are my best friend, and I have never borrowed any money from you. Can you pay my return ticket to Hawaii this time?”

三、本课重点：对动作句子的进一步分析

将前两期中所述的描述动作或状态的句子总结一下，我们可以得到这样的结论：

A（主语）+B（谓语）（+D（宾语）（+D’（宾语’））

下面，我们首先运用这个结构来分析课文。

Our neighbour, Captain Charles Alison, will sail from Portsmouth tomorrow.

这不是动作类动词的句子，暂不分析。

同前，非动作类动词句子。

He will take part in an important race across the Atlantic.

现在，我们来分析一下句子中的其他成分，也就是属于修饰的成分（M）。

Neighbour+will sail

谓语动词sail使用了将来时，而且是不及物动词，后面没有宾语。这样的动词，通常可以用时间、地点、方式、频率等修饰成分去说明。例：

He will sail tomorrow.

He will sail to China.

He will sail by himself.

He will sail more often.

也可以将各种修饰成分合起来说：

He will sail by himself more often to China from now on.

From now on, he will sail by himself more often to China.这句应该是强调“从现在开始起”。

He will sail more often by himself to China from now on.则更加强调频度。

大家可以使用上面的ABD基本结构，自己加上各种修饰成分造出各种句子，了解修饰成分在句中的位置、作用等。另外，主语Neighbour这个词也需要修饰，以后讨论。

四、作文线索

本课将人物和事件结合在一起描写。有对人物的描述，来加强事件的传奇性，而对事件的描述，同时也能说明人物的性格特点。用这么少的笔墨就能做到这一点，值得我们注意。

现在请大家根据课文句子的ABD式（去掉非动作动词句），自己加上修饰成分，写出一个不同于课文的故事，可以适当加一些内容。注意人物和事件之间的关系。
