第四十六课Expensive and uncomfortable 既昂贵又受罪

一、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。

将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，请大家自己做。

从第三十一课开始，我不再提供摘要练习的答案。请大家认真做好摘要练习，这是提高表达能力，进而提高写作能力，特别是围绕中心进行写作的好方法。希望大家坚持，我会在会员社区帮大家修改摘要，并且适当做一些讲评，选出比较好的摘要供大家参考。

二、本课重点：表示情感

这一课使用了两个表示情感的动词：astonish和surprise，小结一下：

表示情感的动词常常使用被动语态：

He was astonished at what he found.
He was so surprised at being discovered that he did not even try to run away.

表示情感的动词常常和介词连用，后面接情感发生的对象。还要注意介词和动词的搭配。
astonished at, amused at/by, shocked at/by, surprised at/by, amazed at/by, frightened at/by, scared at/by

介词后面所接的情感发生的对象，可以是一个单词，也可以是一个短语，或者一个句子。
He was amused by her remarks.
He was surprised at being discovered so quickly.
They were shocked by what he had done.

这种动词后面也可以直接接动词不定式：
He was surprised to meet his friend at the airport.

另外值得一提的是：
It suddenly occurred to one of the workers to open up the box.
One of the workers suddenly thought of opening up the box.

三、作文线索

本课描述的是一个逃票不成反而被罚的旅客。

下面这一段文字比较烦琐，请大家练习将句子连接起来，使简洁生动。

A man was surprised at what his father told him in a telegraph. It said his mother died suddenly. It was late at night in the mountains. There was no train. He suddenly thought of a bus stop 3 hours from his village. He walked for 3 and a half hours to get there. It was windy and cold. He caught a bus. It was a very long journey. He had had an uncomfortable trip. He was very hungry. He had not eaten anything for thirteen hours. He had not drunk anything for thirteen hours. Wooden chairs were not soft. He had a seat. He had had a few hours’ sleep. He arrived at home. His father and his mother were astonished at seeing him late at night. It was a joke by one of his neighbors.

四、课后翻译练习

1、谁也弄不清楚他怎么考试最后一名。
谁也弄不清楚他考试这么差。

2、突然老师想到要检查我们的作业。

3、发现家里一个人也没有，他感到非常吃惊。

4、他为自己的失礼道了歉，却仍然发现大多数同事对他不满。
