conscience means the awareness of a moral or ethical aspect to one's conduct together with the urge to prefer right over wrong,指良心对鞭策人行善而非作恶的本能行为在伦理或道德上的意识的意思。例如：Let your conscience be your guide.让你的良心指引你。His conscience troubled him after he took the money.

他拿了钱以后，他的良心使他不安。我们常说的凭良心就是according to one's conscience, 问心无愧是have a clear [good] conscience.

关于这个词，有如下习惯用语：

A good conscience is a constant feast. (=A good conscience is a soft pillow.)
