第二十一课 Mad or not?

1、摘要写作

Fishing is the writer’s favourite sport. Some unlucky fishermen catch old boots and rubbish. The writer is not so lucky because he never catches anything. He is not really interested in fishing. He is only interested in sitting in the boat and doing nothing at all. (46字)

2、作文

本次选用了聂晶的作文。

Reading is my favorite pastime

I like reading newspapers in the morning and novels or magazines after supper. I also enjoy reading academic papers in bed. For most people, reading an interesting book in bed before sleeping is always enjoyable. They think reading academic papers is very hard work, so it is uncomfortable to do it at that time. "Reading academic papers in bed is terrible!" my friends say. "You might as well give it up." But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not interested in reading academic papers in bed. I'm only interested in opening an academic book and putting myself into sleep!

二、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。
将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。答案见下期。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，先给出后面一句，请大家做出前面一句。答案见下期。

He has been offered money to leave, but he is determined to stay.

三、本课重点：被动语态在作文中的运用

在写作中有意识地使用被动语态，可以更好地描述事物、表达思想。

1、如果动作的执行者对于某一篇作文来说无关紧要，那么，就可以使用被动语态，省略动作执行者，例如：
Paper was first made in China.
His book has been translated into 20 languages.
A new school will be built in this area soon.

2、如果动作的对象是作文描述的中心，那么使用被动语态可以使句子之间的连接更加自然，使作文更加紧凑，阅读起来也更舒服。
Grand Hotel is the oldest hotel in our city. It was designed by a famous architect. In this hotel, you can find a spacious lounge furnished with traditional furniture. 试比较A famous architect designed it.

3、好的写作其基本要素之一就是句子简练、匀称。有时候采用被动语态能够达到这样的效果。
I live near an airport and passing planes can be heard night and day.
如果改成：I live near an airport and People here can hear passing planes night and day.句子就不够简练。
He appeared on stage and was immediately applauded by the audience.
如果改成：He appeared on stage and the audience immediately applauded him.句子也不够简练。
This teacher will be adored very much by those who have learned only a little English and are eager to improve it with her guidance.
如果改成：Those who have learned only a little English and are eager to improve it with the help of the teacher adore her very much.句子顿时变得很不匀称。

四、作文线索

本课写的是人们对机场噪音的反应。大家忍受不了噪音，纷纷逃之夭夭。然而，作者却决心留下来，甚至不为金钱所动，也不怕因此而被噪音逼疯。本课某些句子使用了被动语态，使得表达比较简练，所有的描述都能够紧紧围绕中心。

You are stuck in a lift for three hours. Describe briefly where the lift is and what kind of lift it is. Then describe in detail why you have not been heard although you have been screaming at the top of your voice. Of course, you have to tell us the reason why you have to shout to get attention. End the story with something unusual.
