第六十九课 But not murder! 并非谋杀！

一、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。

将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，请大家自己做。

从第三十一课开始，我不再提供摘要练习的答案。请大家认真做好摘要练习，这是提高表达能力，进而提高写作能力，特别是围绕中心进行写作的好方法。希望大家坚持，我会在会员社区帮大家修改摘要，并且适当做一些讲评，选出比较好的摘要供大家参考。

二、本课重点： 过去进行时的用法

大家应该对过去进行时并不陌生，一般是表示过去某一时间正在进行的动作。跟一般过去时一样也常和表示过去的时间状语连用，如：

1. They were testing the machine yesterday afternoon.
2. They were expecting you in the morning.

当上下文清楚的时候，可以省略时间状语，如：

3. He was only talking to himself, not you.
4. Soon the whole class were talking about his success.
5. A moment later he was standing at the gate of the factory.
6. His son sat down, and he was rising to his feet, looking at him angrily.
7. She didn’t show up in her class yesterday. She was visiting her doctor.
8. He failed the driving test. He was working all day long for the whole week.
9. It was snowing when…
10. The teacher was giving a class. Two students were standing outside the classroom.

在有些可以使用一般过去时的情况下使用过去进行时，可以表示这个动作的某些特殊含义，如：

11. I was just being nice.
12. I was being tested for a driving license for the third time.

三、值得学习的句子

1. I had been asked to drive in heavy traffic and had done so successfully.
I had been asked to fill out the form and had done so in no time.

2. I was almost beginning to enjoy my test.
I was almost beginning to like him.
I was almost beginning to believe him.

3. The examiner must have been pleased with my performance.
She must have been delighted to see you.
