With assistance from historical and cultural preservation societies, America's state parks and recreation departments erect markers along highways to inform the public about interesting historical events that happened in the area.

由于历史文化保护协会的帮助，美国的州立公园及康乐部门，在高速公路两旁竖立了许多告示板，让大家知道此地有趣的历史事件。

St. Patrick's Day 圣派特瑞克节

America's Irish population celebrates St. Patrick's Day (March 17) with big parades in several cities. Green is the traditional color, so on St. Patrick's Day taverns sell green beer, people wear a green item of clothing and some people even throw green dye into the Chicago River.

在美国的爱尔兰移民，每年在许多城市以盛大的游行，庆祝圣派特瑞克节。绿色是这个节日的传统颜色，所以在这一天，酒店卖绿色的啤酒，人们穿戴着绿色的服饰，有些人甚至把绿色的染料丢到芝加哥河中。

Scenic Route 观光路线

The Interstate Highway System makes most of America easily accessible by car. Older, two-lane highways, however, follow the rolling contours of the land and generally offer a more scenic view of the countryside. Highways with beautiful scenic views are so marked and indicated on the map.

州际公路系统使美国大部分地区都可以开车到达。而较老旧的两线公路随着地形的起伏而延伸，可以慢慢地呈现更多的乡间风貌。地图上会标示出这些风光明媚的公路位置。

Canoeing 划独木舟

Many years ago Indians used the canoe to navigate the rivers of what is now America. Today it is still possible to go canoeing on selected rivers. White-water canoeing on fast rivers requires experience and preparation. But for leisurely canoeing down quieter streams, all one needs is a free afternoon and a canoe.

很久以前，印第安人用独木舟航行于现今美国的许多河流。今天在一些特定的河川，仍然可以划独木舟。在急流中泛舟需要经验及准备，但如果要轻松地在较平静地溪流泛舟的话，只需要一个空闲的下午及一艘独木舟就行了。
