【Board Sailing 驾风浪板】

Board Sailing is a surf board with a sail. Popular in Europe for years and now catching on around the world. Board Sailing is now one of the events in the Olympics.

风浪板就是有帆的冲浪板。在欧洲已经流行了好几年，而现在逐渐风行全世界。如今风浪板已成为奥运会的正式竞赛项目之一。

【Skateboarding 溜滑板】

Invented in California in the late 50s, skateboarding soon became popular all over America. Due to accidents『n.事故』 and injuries,『n.受伤』 however, it was banned『v.禁止』 by several states around 1965. Today with safer wheels,『n.滑轮，轮子』 helmet『n.头盔』and knee guards,『护膝』 the sport is much safer and has regained『vt.重新获得』 its popularity.『n.流行』

滑板自从五十年代末期在加州发明后，不久就风行全美国。但是，约在1965年时，因为发生了许多意外及受伤事件，很多州明令禁止这项运动。现在因为有较安全的轮子，头盔和护膝，滑板运动因变得较安全，又再度地流行起来了。

这个溜滑板就是我们常常在体育频道看到的滑板运动，感到他们好象什么都可以在上面溜的，不过也很危险，一直看到有的人在水泥地板上摔的狗啃泥样子。

【Marathons 马拉松赛跑】

Marathons have become quite popular in America. Every year nearly 300 long-distance running events are held in various cities throughout the U.S.A. To entertain『vt.使开心』 spectators『n.观众』 along the route『沿途』，a few of the marathon runners put on『戴上』 funny hats, wear strange costumes『n.服装』 or carry humorous signs.

马拉松赛跑在美国很流行。每年在全美各城市大约会举行三百个长距离赛跑。有些跑者为了娱乐一下沿途加油的观众，特别戴上有趣的帽子，穿奇怪的服装，或是佩戴幽默好笑的牌子在身上。

【16－inch Softball】 16英寸垒球

Originally『adv.原先地』 developed as an indoor game, 16－inch softball was created in 1887 in Chicago. Players do not use gloves『n.手套』 and must catch the ball bare－handed.『adv.未戴手套地』 Although the 12－inch ball is now universally『adv.普遍地』 used, 16－inch softball is still played in Chicago.

16英寸垒球这项运动语1887年在芝加哥诞生，起初是室内活动；参加者不戴手套而且要空手接球。虽然现在通用12英寸的球，但在芝加哥还是用16英寸的。
