第六十四课 The Channel Tunnel 海峡隧道

一、摘要写作

1、摘要练习

分别使用快速阅读法、听写法和合并法练习写摘要。

将合并句子写的摘要贴到会员社区。自己根据课文内容，将可以合并的句子合并，去掉一些细节，篇幅争取控制在50字到60字。

2、继续做两句话概括的练习。

用两句概括，请大家自己做。

从第三十一课开始，我不再提供摘要练习的答案。请大家认真做好摘要练习，这是提高表达能力，进而提高写作能力，特别是围绕中心进行写作的好方法。希望大家坚持，我会在会员社区帮大家修改摘要，并且适当做一些讲评，选出比较好的摘要供大家参考。

二、本课重点：虚拟语气

虚拟语气其实是条件句中的一个类别，它不表示假设的情况有可能发生，而是表示假设的情况在过去或现在都不存在，或将来也不太可能发生的，一般说来，在含有虚拟条件的复合句中，主句和从句的谓语都要用虚拟语气。

1. The tunnel would be well-ventilated if all chimneys were built above sea level.

如果表示的是与现在事实相反的假设或结果，主句和从句的谓语动词都用过去式，其中从句谓语动词用过去时，如果是动词be，一般用were，而主句则用 would, should, could, might加动词原型：
2. If I were you, I would (could, should, might) go there at once.

如果表示与过去事实相反的假设，主句用would等加动词原型，而从句用过去完成时形式：

3. If you had come earlier, you would have seen him.

如果表示与将来事实相反的假设，主句用would等加动词原型，而从句则用动词过去式，或者should+动词原型，或者were to加动词原型：

4. If I were to do it, I would do it in a different way.
5. If he should die, I would never forgive you.

虚拟语气看似复杂，其实，只要掌握与事实相反这一点就可以了，另外注意谓语动词的构成。

三、值得学习的句子

1. This platform would serve as a port and a center of the Channel.
This computer would serve as the printer control center.
He would serve as the leading translator in this company.

2. It would draw in fresh air behind it.
You can draw two pictures within 2 minutes.
I need to draw some money from the bank.

3. It was officially opened on March 7. 1994, finally connecting Britain to the European continent.
The flight was cancelled immediately, making it impossible for us to arrive in Beijing on time.
The teacher were trying to finish writing the book within one week, eventually completing the last part of his writing project.

四、课后作文练习

Talk about the plans for the highway overpass linking Hangzhou and Shanghai.
