The expression ''Never, never give up'' means to keep trying and never stop working for your goals. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.

Sample Essay:

The expression ''Never, never give up'' sounds like a motto for some people and a cliche for others. I would like to agree with this statement only so far as it refers to those who know what they are doing with a strong desire. Blind perseverance to aim highly would go nowhere near success in many work fields. Success more often than not depends on defining goals of jobs which people like doing and are good at. Right choices of goals must come before ceaseless efforts to finish the jobs. It is better to quit half way when wrong choices are made, and then start over for more realistic objectives. Perseverace as a virture is for dreamers with open eyes.

In my observations, successful people are mostly motivated by a strong desire as if ''to move mountains'' to reach their goals. In struggling for success, they meet defeats, perhaps failures so frustrating that the easiest and most logical thing to do is to give up. That is exactly what the majority of people do. In spite of adversities, their will grows even more powerful. Action follows action. In fact, success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes. but they never quit. Such vitality shows in the ability to persit without getting lost in pursuit of excellence.

The roots of true excellence lie in the desire to become the best a person can become. The basic question is what is that a person likes doing? It is obvious that when a person doesn't like doing a certain job, the best thing to do is to get out it. It makes no sense staying a job the entire life, expecting to be successful in it. Perseverance of this sort is a waste of time. To guit or not to quit is therefore not the question.

Most people do not reach their goals in life. Jobs being well done in the process may be seen as a successful journey. The bad news is about people being engaged in wrong lines of jobs they know little about and do not enjoy doing at all. For such people, jobs are boring. And no success could be related to boredom. Nevertheless, I am led to believe that for many people many jobs are worth trying. If at first they don't succeed, try, try again. Then give up. I think there is no use being a blind fool about it.
