丘比特之恋（2）

Psyche was so surprised that she dropped（掉下，掉落） the light. The noise woke Cupid. He was very unhappy with Psyche and flew away.

Psyche吓了一跳，把手上的灯都摔掉了。相声惊醒了Cupid，他非常不高兴地飞走了。

Psyche looked for Cupid everywhere and finally found him with his mother, Venus（维纳斯）, the goddess（女神） of beauty. Venus wanted to see if Psyche was worthy of Cupid’s love, so she gave her several difficult things to do. But Psyche was so beautiful that many animals came to help her. Finally she was told to bring back a box from the Underworld（冥界）. This time, Psyche was helped by a voice. It warned（警告） her not to open the box.

Psyche到处寻找，最后在他的妈妈——美神维纳斯那里找到了他。维纳斯要看看Psyche是不是值得丘比特的爱，所以给了她许多困难的任务。其中一项据说是要从一堆小麦、玉米、棉花的种子里把它们分类挑出来，可是借着蚂蚁们的帮助，她很快就完成了任务。最后，她被告知要从冥界拿回一个盒子。这次，一个声音帮助了她。它警告她不要打开盒子。

Psyche wondered（想知道） what was inside the box. When she opened it, she began to die. Jupiter（朱庇特）, the King of gods, saved Psyche and turned her into a goddess. He told Psyche that, from then on, she would never have to leave Cupid’s side again.

Psyche想知道盒子里装的是什么。可一打开盒子，她就死去了。众神之王Jupiter救了她，并把她变成女神。他告诫Psyche，从那天以后，她就再也不能离开Cupid的身边了。

【世博读书笔记】

1．to look for是“寻找”的意思，要注意它和to find out的差别，前者更强调找的过程，但结果不确定，比如：
She is looking for her lost child.
她正在寻找失踪的孩子。（找没找到不知道。）而
She found out her child was sleeping under the bed.
他发现原来孩子正睡在床底下。（强调找到的结果。）

2．turn…into表示“使变化，变成”的意思。这种变化可以是物理的，也可以是化学的，可以是人为的，也可以是自然的，下面有几个例子：
The barren land has been turned into fertile fields.
贫瘠的土地已改成良田。
Cold turned their ears pink.
他们的耳朵冻得发红了。
Fall turned the leaves.
秋天树叶发了黄。
