Growing up a military brat（小家伙）, Mia fell in love with soccer while her father was serving in Italy. By the age of 14, she was dominating（统治） women’s soccer in Texas and attracting attention（注意，关心） from around the country.

从军人家庭成长起来的小家伙米娅•哈姆，在她的爸爸还在意大利服役时，她就爱上了足球。当她14岁时，已经统治了德克萨斯的女足界，并且吸引着全国的关注。

1．watch指“专注地看”，有如下用法。

（1）表示“看护，监视”，如：
I want you to watch the child while I'm away.
我要你在我不在的时候看管这孩子。
短语watch over也表达“照管”的意思，如：
Will you watch over my clothes while I have a swim?
我去游泳,你帮我看一下衣服好吗?

（2）表示“小心，留神，提防”，如：
Watch that the milk doesn't boil over.
小心别让牛奶溢出来。

2．follow

（1）表示“跟随”，如：
My dog follows me to school.
我的狗跟着我去上学。

（2）表示“在……之后”，如：
Night follows day.
黑夜接着白天。

（3）表示“听懂、领会”，如：
Do you follow me?
你听懂我的话了吗?

lead, guide, direct辨析

to lead is to show the way by going first, to guide is to show the way and explain things, and to direct is to explain to someone how to get to a place.

走在前面带路用lead ,边领路边讲解用guide ，向某人解释如何到某一地方去用direct。

看看下面的例子：

She guided the tourists round the castle.
