David: I’m just saying…
Keith: Do you want to pick a fight with me this morning?
David: No, do you really want to pick a fight with a nine year-old about her attitude?
Keith: This morning, I do.
David: Well, too ***ing bad. I know you’re nervous about your old man coming to visit, but I don’t have to let you take it out on Taylor, or me!

戴维：我只是说……
基斯：你是不是想和我在早上吵架？
戴维：不是，你是不是真想和一个九岁的女孩子吵架就因为她的态度？
基斯：今天早上我是想。
戴维：噢，那可***太糟了。我知道你很紧张因为你老爸要来这儿，但我没必要让你把这气撒在泰勒头上，或是我头上。

【世博视角】

一听到fight，我们可能马上想到“打架”，其实这个字在口语中常常用来表示“吵架”，pick up a fight 就是指“想吵架”。

要是一个人心情不好或遇到什么不顺心的事情时很容易找人撒气，用英语表示的话就是take sth out on sb, 如果你真成了别人的出气筒，你就可以对那人说Don't take it out on me just because you've had a bad day. “就因为你今天过得很糟, 你也不能拿我出气啊”。另外，这个表示法中的sth 也可以改成其它词，比如anger“气愤”、annoyance“烦恼”、frustration “挫败”等等，例： He takes his wrath out on the chair（他用椅子来发泄愤怒）。
