Every cloud has a silver lining.
乌云背后总有一线光芒。

在这里silver lining是有特殊含义的。It means a hopeful or comforting prospect in the midst of difficulty，（不幸或失望中的）一线希望。

由silver组成的习语还有很多，如：

a silver tongue, way of speaking that charms or persuades people，口才；雄辩。A silver-tongued lawyer，能言善辩的律师。

The silver screen, a cinema screen or the cinema industry，银幕；电影业。Stars of the silver screen影星。

Silver wedding, 25th anniversary of a wedding，银婚（结婚25周年纪念）。

因此，Every cloud has a silver lining.其实就是暗示这样一个道理：在逆境中总有值得宽慰的或有希望的一面。
