CHANDLER: Listen, it's kind of an emergency. Well, I guess you know that, or we'd be in the predicament room.
RECEPTIONIST: Fill these out, sit over there.

在生活中我们常常需要填写各式各样的表格，按理说应该是fill in forms, 但美国人却偏偏喜欢说 fill out forms, 比如在面试的时候，可能你用来填写表格的时间会比真正面试的时间还要长, “It took a long time to fill out the application form.” 当然如果你一定要用 fill in 的话也是可以的。考试时经常出现的一种题型就是让你 fill in the blanks “填空”，这个词组也可以用来表示 “填补空白”, 如：

We know roughly how the system works, but Brian is here to fill in the blanks.
